|Progress:||Done and hanging in my mother’s living room|
I grew up in a religious family and though I am not currently religious, my mother is a believer. This painting did not start out this way, it started out with the idea of being a joint project with my husband. He’s not a painter but said he would be interested in doing a painting together. I have envisioned it where I would paint, then he would take what I painted and add to it. Unfortunately, the vase came first and he said he couldn’t work with that and didn’t join in. So, I now had this large vase painted on a large canvas, what the hell do I do with that? So, typical to my style, I decided on a giant hand handing flowers and who has a more giant hand than God? This is an earlier painting and I knew even less about shadows and blending than I do now, which still isn’t that much, so it’s not one of the best works of art, but my mother likes it and isn’t that all that really matters?
Painting flowers was a new task for me and proved to be quiet annoying! But, I consulted some books and learned how to do it… well, kind of.
